Course objectives
The lecture course is focused on acquiring theoretical knowledge needed for implementation of modern spectroscopic methods for analysis of protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions. From the methodical approaches, the main emphasis is put on highly sensitive fluorescent methods and their practical use in biological laboratories. The main lecture topics are detection, techniques for fluorescent labeling of macromolecules and their application for analysis of function and interaction of important biomolecules in genome and proteome.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- describe spectral properties of a fluorophore
- use fluorescence for qualitative and quantitative analysis of biomolecular interactions
- design optimal experimental arrangements for fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy
Syllabus
