Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
This lecture deals with a particular aspect of stereochemistry which became significant for organic synthesis, industrial and, particularly, pharmaceutical chemistry. Insight into todays practice of analytical and preparative methods, including the ones at technical scale, will be provided. From earlier studies, stereoisomers, their symmetry and their relationships should be familiar to the participants. An attempt will be made to take into account the students knowledge of English language. Upon the lecture, written exercises will be distributed and discussed in the following week.
Syllabus
  • Sources and applications of enantiomers Separation via diastereomers Separations by direct crystallization Separations by direct capillary electrophoresis Separations by direct gas chromatography Separations by direct liquid chromatography (HPLC) (detection by chiroptics; successful sorbents; preparative possibilities).
Language of instruction
English
