Předmět je otevřen studentům libovolného oboru.
Cíle předmětu
Students focused on successful career in chemistry, as well as those who still did not find their favourite chemistry field, usually tend to participate in multi-disciplinary courses or research projects which can provide them with broader knowledge base and enable getting familiar with various application areas. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and studies on their applications allow students to get insight into inorganic, organic, analytical, supramolecular, and material chemistry and nanotechnology.

Osnova
  • Nowadays, there is an emerging interest in novel advanced porous materials for a wide variety of applications such as catalysis, separation and purification, drug delivery and targeting, and electronics. The subject will be taught in several consequential classes:
  • 1. Metallo-supramolecular cages: ligand design, preparation, characterization and applications (2 classes, OJ)
  • 2. Gels and xerogels: components, preparation, characterization and applications (2 classes, OJ)
  • 3. Introduction to porous materials (MOFs), their synthesis, characterization, activation and applications in general (2 classes, OJ, PZP)
  • 4. MOFs in medical application: drug loading and delivery (OJ)
  • 5. MOFs in gas adsorption, storage, and separation (2 classes, PZP)
  • 6. MOFs for separation processes (OJ)
  • 7. MOFs as catalysts (OJ, PZP)
  • 8. Carbon-based nanomaterials (2 classes, PZP)
  • 9. Advanced carbon@MOF composites (PZP)
Výukové metody
The course will comprise of powerpoint lectures. The students will actively participate on the course by presenting briefly latest scientific literature from selected areas. The course is designed in a way to help student getting familiar with extraction of key information from the large amount of literature, getting the state-of-the-art knowledge, and applying that to further developments in science or solving scientific questions. The course will show the importance of the interconnectivity of various chemical disciplines, which will ultimately aim to provide the graduates with a proper mind-set for future scientific as well as industrial careers. The students will be led to independent thinking over a given problems/questions in the fields. The most original theoretical solutions with possible high impact on the field development will be rewarded and in case of student’s interest a possibility to execute the idea practically in the laboratory as a part of their thesis will be available.
