Prerequisites
Advanced seminar for PhD students of Ecotoxicology or Environmental Chemistry - students should have knowledge about ecotoxicology at the MSc. level.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Main objective of the seminar is to continuously enhance knowledge of the PhD students from the broader perspectives. Students will discuss and present practical applications of ecotoxicology (e.g. waste ecotoxicity, law requirements etc.), geology and geochemistry, environmental chemistry, informatics and modeling, risk assessment. Seminar combines lectures of external and internal professionals, student's presentations and directed discussions to selected topics. Students will be able to combine, interpret and discuss their own results in complex environmental assessment.
Syllabus
  • Lectures of professionals - e.g. from industry, hydrometeorological institute, local and regional administration etc.
  • Summary lectures of specific research fields (e.g. soil ecotoxicology, cyanobacterial water blooms, endocrine disruption, POPs monitoring, risk assessment, GIS and modelling, etc.)
  • Students presentations and discussion of their results in English
  • Directed discussions to specific research problems (e.g. biochemical markers, assessment of complex contaminated matrices, experimental design etc.)
