Course objectives
The course aims to provide the knowledge to the students about societal and economical aspects of environmental problems. The aim is also to enable a wider understanding of the social, political, economic and psychological roots of the environmental crisis.
Learning outcomes
After this course, the student will be able:
- to understand the social, economic, and political context of environmental issues
- to explain how the development of environmental issue is related to diverse disciplines such as psychology, sociology, economy, legislation, ethics, etc.
- to discuss the role and potential of social sciences in the solution the environmental issues

  • 1. Presentation of the concept of the seminar, introduction of selected topics and their relationships.

Teaching methods
Regular seminars are held weekly. The individual themes are presented by experts from RECETOX Center and other relevant institutions. The students will prepare independently a seminar work on selected topic given by the course tutor. Participation of students in the seminars is not passive; they are actively involved in surveys, queries, work in groups, etc.
Assessment methods
The work and activity of students is monitored and evaluated throughout the semester. Participation should be active (student responds to lecture topics, gives questions, etc.). The condition is also the submission of the given scientific essay and its presentation.
