Course objectives
The main aim of the course is to prepare a diploma thesis on the given topic under the guidance of the assigned supervisor.
Learning outcomes
Through preparation of diploma thesis, the students will learn:
- to work with scientific literature
- to organize, combine, analyze, summarize, evaluate and reproduce scientific information
- to create scientific text in the usual form
- to create experimental design and perform independently experiments recommended by supervisor
- to integrate theoretical knowledge into experimental work
- to perform the specific methods
- to analyze results using statistical and graphical methods
- formulate own results and opinions, criticize them and discuss with literature
- to present results and conclusions of experimental or theoretical scientific work
- to contribute to research on the given topic
Syllabus
  • At the beginning, students will choose from the topics currently announced for the study program. Students will meet with the supervisor and discuss further progress and consultations. An official assignment is being prepared. Students will learn individually or together to work with internet databases and principles of working with scientific literature, writing scientific texts and citation principles. Students work independently on diploma thesis under the leadership of the supervisor. In the case of the experimental part of the work, after the experimental plan is provided by the supervisor, the students independently perform the given experiments.

Teaching methods
Personal consultations with the supervisor, study of literature and work with it (work with internet databases of scientific literature), preparation of diploma thesis. Experimental work in the laboratory or research in the field. Individual work of students under supervision.
