Course objectives
After passing the course, students will be able to
- list and describe basic mathematical, physical, chemical and biological concepts and methods of biophysics
- explain the application of these concepts and methods in simple biophysical problems
Syllabus
  • analytical geometry: goniometric functions, directions, distances, (dihedral) angles
  • differential equations: course of a function, approximation of a function, numerical solution of simple problems, the Lennard-Jones potential, parcial derivatives
  • dynamic processes: kinetics of chemical reactions, dissociation constant
  • thermodynamics: enthalpy, entropy, Gibbsova energy
  • spectroskopic techniques: NMR, vibrational spectroscopy
  • genetics: transfer of hereditary information, principle of evolutionary stable strategy
  • soft skills: reading of scientific texts, presentation of the measured data, relation of student and tutor
