Course objectives
The lecture presents an overview of nanotechnology applications along with their background physical principles, fabrication methods and methods for material characterization.
Syllabus
  • Nano-optics - the surface plasmon, quantum dots, nanophotonics
  • Nanomagnetism - physical properties of magnetic nanostructures
  • Nanomechanics - structure and mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes, nano-microelectromechanical systems (NEMS/MEMS)
  • Nanostructured thin film coating - classification, super-hard coatings, processing techniques and principles
  • Nanocatalysic materials - fundamentals, materials and characterization
  • Carbon fibers and nanotubes, nanocomposites and their applications
  • Medical Nanotechnology - Nanoparticles and Nanoencapsulation, nano-biosensors, nano-manipulation of biomolecules
