Syllabus
  • Foundations of statistics: probability, quantities with discrete and continuous distribution, statistical distributions-binomial, Poisson, Gauss, basic ideas of the theory of measurments, statistical description of thermodynamical systems-Boltzmann and Maxwell distributions. Approximation of functions, numerical differentation and integration. Taylor series. Fourier series, Fourier integral, Fourier transformation. Operators: representation of the quantum state of a system, Hilbert space, physical quantities as hermitean operators, eigenvalues, eigenstates, physical applications.
