Prerequisites
Interess on the philosophical problems of logic and natural sciences is supposed. Lectures are connected with discussions. Credit for the essay on the topics connected with the content of lectures

Course objectives
The subject draw strength from scientific knowledge of philosophy, logic, mathematics, physics and lingvistics. The place of physics is looking for among other subjects of human knowledge. Physics will be seen from the point of view of its language growing complexity during the whole of its history. At the end of the course students should be able to understand better the problems of contemporary physics and to define new problems relating to the nature of our knowledge.

  • Origin of Language. Signs and Context.
  • Exactitude versus Vagueness of Language. Consistency and Coherence.
  • The nature of Meaning.
  • Levels of the language Structures. Mimetike, metexis, epagoge.
  • Overview of Logic and Argumentation.
  • Gottlob Frege conception of Function.
  • Development of the Language of Mathematics I
  • Development of the Language of Mathematics II
  • Development of the Language of Physics I
  • Development of the Language of Physics II
