Course objectives
Laboratory course complements theoretical lecture given in autumn semester. The main objective is to make students acquainted with basic microwave elements; with measuring techniques; with practical importance of physical quantities derived in theoretical course.

  • Magnetron and its function.
  • Oscillation modes of reflex klystron.
  • Electronic and mechanical tuning of klystron.
  • Diode as frequency multiplier.
  • Diode as mixer.
  • Travelling wave tube - karcinotron.
  • Gunn diode oscillator.
  • Obstacles in waveguide.
  • Measurement of dielectric constant by resonator method.
  • Radiation pattern of antennae.
  • Measurement of high frequency power.
