Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to provide the students with the ability to
- understand biopolymer structure and behavior
- describe and explain fundamental physical properties of biopolymers, which are responsible for their biological function
- apply this knowledge to explanation of environmental effects influencing biopolymers

  • 1. Primary, secondary and tertiary structure of nucleic acids
  • 2. Primary, secondary and tertiary structure of proteins
  • 3. Noncovalent interactions in biopolymers
  • 4. Biopolymer behavior in solution, interactions with ions and ligands
  • 5. Interactions of biopolymers with electromagnetic radiation, spectroskopic methods
  • 6. Diffraction metods, X-ray crystalography
  • 7. Optical properties of biopolymers, linear and circular dichroism
  • 8. Elektric properties of biopolymers
  • 9. Magnetic properties of biopolymers, nuclear magnetic resonance
  • 10. Mechanic properties of biopolymers
  • 11. Theoretical study of biopolymers
