Course objectives
Lectures represent the work with actual samples of fossils and geological structures. Main objectives are recognize of these phenomenons in general samples.
Syllabus
  • 1.Fossils: 1.Rhodophyta, Chlorophyta- macroscopic morphology 2. Cormobionta – basic marks of individual groups: articulated or non articulated stem, types of foliage, morfology of bark (Lycopodiophyta) 3. Foraminifera - study of models, 4. Porifera - bodies morphology 5. Archaeocyatha – longitudinal and transverse look 6. Coelenterata – (Conulata, Stromatoporoidea, Anthozoa) - solitaire x colonial, inner symetry 7. Vermes – ichnofossils 8. Mollusca - (Gastropoda, Rostroconchia, Bivalvia, Scaphopoda, Cephalopoda –Nautiloidea, Ammonoidea, Belemnoidea; Hyolitha a Cricoconarida) – symetry and type of shells, shell material,lock types, type of winding, muscle marks, sutures 9. Arthropoda - (Trilobitomorpha, Crustacea, Tracheata ) basic types of body segmentation 10. Bryozoa – colony types 11. Brachiopoda - (Inarticulata, Articulata) shell material,shell symetry , komisura, differentiation to the Bivalvia 12.Echinodermata -bascic morphology, ambulacral system, symetry radial x bilateral bilaterální, 13. Hemichordata – (Graptolithina) – types of colony – benthal x planctonic forms 12. Chordata (Vertebrata) – types of fossilified parts

The course consists of work with concrete samples, highlighted on their typical marks.
Assessment methods
The exam consists of practical identification of 3 fossils and 3 geological structures. Students complete a form with questions.
