Course objectives
The lectures concern principles and practical use of geological and geophysical methods used in petroleum exploration as well as basics of hydrocarbon field development and production. The students should have the junior geoscientist understanding of the topic after passing these lectures.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to basics of petroleum industry and will be familiarized with exploration methods (with emphasis on modern geophysical methods), uppraisal and production methods of crude oil and natural gas.

  • Petroleum systems: source rock, migration, acumulation; 2D/3D seismics: acquisition, processing, seismic attributes, interpretation, interpretation software; wireline logs: logging methods and their geological interpretation, well log interpretation; well drilling; well testing; casing and tubing; production facilities; field production and development;
