Course objectives
The purpose of the course is to develop the concepts introduced in basic hydrogeology course and to familiarize students with quantitative methods applied in hydrogeology and in protection of environment.
Syllabus
  • Basic terms of ground water flow (hydraulic head, hydraulic conductivity, Darcy Law, flow nets etc.), interpretation of pumping tests and slug tests, principles of hydrogeological modeling and steps in preparation of a model, introduction to code Visual Modflow, calibration of a model and its application for prediction, method of particle tracking, regional evolution of ground water chemistry, application of isotopes in hydrogeology.
Literature
