Course objectives
The course is aimed at acquiring skills associated with the collection and processing of samples for geoenvironmental assessment, especially for students with a predominantly chemical background.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course students are able to…
Plan basic geological sampling
Operate basic instruments used in environmental geology
Recommend a suitable method for the sampling situation
Syllabus
  • Sampling for geoenvironmental research
  • Solid, liquid and gaseous samples
  • Silicate analysis (gravimetry, volumetry)
  • Spectral absorption methods
  • Electrochemical instrumentation (ISE, pH, EC, ORP)
  • Chromatography in environmental studies
  • Water and air sampling for isotopic analyzes
Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation, lectures, solving of excercises and examples, field anad laboratory work
Assessment methods
Solving assigned tasks and a final interview
