Course objectives
The aims of the course are to improve students´ academic skills (poster presentation, functional language, abstract) as well as B1 grammar and specialist vocabulary related to geology.
Learning outcomes
After completing this course the student will be able to:
understand authentic texts/lectures on Earth Science
identify the main ideas
formulate the main ideas
summarize a scientific/geologic text
interpret the information from the text/lecture
use terminology of the course topics
define the terms of the course topics
compare and contrast using the proper terminology and academic vocabulary
present the topics of the course using basic presentation techniques

Teaching methods
foreign language course: text analysis reading/listening comprehension exercises pronunciation and grammar exercises field and academic vocabulary exercises presentations using basic presentation technique and discussion terminology
Assessment methods
To get credits for the course students need to complete tasks set for homework, give a poster presentation and submit an abstract
