Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The objectives are twofold: first, the introduction to script languages; second, to complement the first Mathematics block courses, introducing the students to computer aided Mathematics and allowing them to master the homeworks there.
Learning outcomes
skilled use of standard Sage environment when practicing Mathematics;
ability to work with Matlab;
designing simple models for practical problems
Syllabus
  • introduction to the Sage and similar software tools;
    numerical and practical aspects of the concepts and tools covered by the first two basic Mathematics courses
Literature
  • Ioannis Chrysikos et al, Script Project in Sage, available online, in preparation
Teaching methods
asynchronous support, individual or small group works based on prepared worksheets in Sage or Matlab.
Assessment methods
regular homework projects related to applications covered by the first two basic Mathematics courses (peer to peer reviewed, with direct support of tutor);
synchronous presentation of small projects in small groups
