Course objectives
Beginnings of cartography. Antique cartography of the Near East countries, China, Middle and South America, Greece and Egypt, Rome. Middle Ages cartography: European, outside European - Byzatine and Arabian. Renaissance of cartography. Modern cartography: great discoveries period, chorographic maps, cartographic school of the Netherlands, French, English and German schools. Rating and manner of using of early maps and a flases. Map archives and map collections in the Czech Republic and in the world.
