Course objectives
The students will gain a complex overview relating to the sources of atmospheric pollution and the processes participating in the origin and spreading of polluting substances in the air. The emphasis will be put on local and global consequences of atmospheric pollution, particular impacts of pollution and possibilities of its monitoring. The attention will be paid to recent climate change and atmosphere protection.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to identify the elemental sources of atmospheric pollution; describe the processes in the atmosphere allowing the formation and spreading of polluting substances; enumerate local and global consequences of atmospheric pollution; define the particular impacts of pollution; present the possibilities of atmosphere protection.
Syllabus
  • 1. The elemental information relating to the atmosphere, natural components of the atmosphere and its dynamic
  • 2. Source of pollution and interaction of the atmosphere with other areas
  • 3. Atmospheric deposition and aerosol
  • 4. Atmospheric pollution
  • 5. Local and global consequences of atmospheric pollution (urban climate, acid rain)
  • 6. Monitoring and quality evaluation of atmosphere
