The course develops knowledges of bachelor course of Biogeography, but it is possible to study it separately too.

Course objectives
Main objectives are to widen students knowledge of interesting special problems or applicaple information in Biogeography.
Second goal is to enhance student´s knowledge of biostatistical methods of geography research.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course student should be able to:
Characterize and interpret Zonobioms of the Earth and differences among them;
characterize and apply map sources in Biogeography, their qualities and problems;
Students should be able to choose adequate biostatistical method for types of problems or research and to use selected of them.

Teaching methods
Lectures consist of powerpoint presentation with many picture illustrations. During the course each student will elaborate seminar thesis. It will be a powerpoint presentation. Search for information in literature, on Internet and its use is assumed. Part of class excercices will be replaced by field excursion, where active participation of students is expected. The excursion is about 4-5 hours long and will be held in surroundings of Brno. Students must write their own notes during the excursion.
Assessment methods
Exam is oral with possibility of preparation. Necessary preconditions for the exam is presentation of good seminar thesis, activity in excercises and submission of notes from excursion. Mark of seminar work quality and activity of students give cca 30% of final course exam, but the exam is to be done at level "E" anyway.
