Course objectives
Concept of spatial autocorrelation, ouantitative description of point, line and areal patterns, Moran and Geary indices. Indices of landscape pattern. Basic principles of interpolation - construction of continuous fields, data sources, sampling, main kinds of interpolators and the overview of the most used ones(Thiessen polygons, IDW, splines, trends. Concept of kriging and geostatistical methods of interpolation. Classification, introduction to multidimensional methods, fuzzy logic and neural networks

  • 1. Concept of spatial autocorrelation 2. Point descriptors 3. Quantitative description of point patterns, quadrat analysis, nearest neighbor analysis, Moran and Geary indices 4. Quantitative description of line patterns, line descriptors, directional statistics, introduction to statistical description of networks 5. Quantitative description of areal patterns, spatial weights matrices, Joint Count Statistics, Moran and Geary indices. 6. Indices of landscape pattern 7. Basic principles of interpolation - construction of continuous fields, data sources, sampling 8. Global and local, exact and non-exact interpolators 9. Overview of the most used interpolators (Thiessen polygons, IDW, splines, trends) 10. Kriging and geostatistical methods of interpolation 11. Classification, introduction to multidimensional methods, fuzzy logic and neural networks
