Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to explain the relationships between the morphology of natural streams and rivers and fluvial processes which shape them. The changes of river channel morphology in space (downstream) and time are elucidated, relations between controling variables (hydrology, geology, ...) and evolution of rivers. The ways in which geomorphological knowledge is applied in the river management are presented.
Learning outcomes
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to learn the variabilty of stream and river channel forms in space and time
to understand the principles of river hydrology, hydraulics and fluvial-geomorphological processes
to learn the methods and techniques of hydromorphological investigation of rivers
to analyze the human impact on rivers

Teaching methods
The course is based upon lectures on various topics dealing with fluvial geomorphology. Excercises (seminars) are usually organized as a one day field trip with subsequent processing of gathered data and elaboration of final report and presentatuion of results.

Examination has an oral form.
