Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows: to broaden student's GIS knowledge on practical aplications in selected geographical disciplines. The subject is focused on physical geography. Main topics are as follows: data sources, spatial data formats, , digital terrain modelling, GIS analysis with vector and raster (grid) data. At the end of the course student should be able to understand basic methods of geoinformatics explained in individual lectures. He/she would be able to explain when to apply individual methods and make reasoned decisions about preconditions that are necessary for proper utilization of methods in physical geography. He/she would be able to work with information on data preparation, make deductions based on acquired knowledge concerning aplication of methods and properly interpret results.
