Course objectives
Students will have reached a solid C1 level by now, they have worked on developing all four skills, have analysed the language for teaching purposes and now should be ready to use it in the classroom without any problems. However, as future teachers they will have to develop further professionally. They will have to attend seminars, conferences, or networking events. They will also have to read professional journals and methodology books. This course then aims to prepare the trainees for their further professional development in terms of their language needs.They will develop both receptive and productive skills focussed on relevant topics and issues.
Syllabus
  • The following areas/topics will be covered throughout the term: Listening - listening to lectures, extracting relevant info, summarizing Reading - methodology lit., reading for gist, extracting relevant info from methodology books Speaking - sharing experience and info, explaining professional problems, asking for/giving advice, giving conference presentations Writing - description of a successful lesson, project proposal, essay on a methodological topic Topics - talking about lessons, relationships, teacher development, job satisfaction
