Course objectives
The aim of this course is to acquaint future teachers of English with some aspects of using technology in ELT. This includes learning how to use mobile devices to create learning activities, how to make them available to students, to use and assess some of the very wide range of applications and resources already in existence for language teaching, and also to work with some web-based linguistic tools that serve us in lesson preparation, in the classroom and in correcting student work. As quite a few skills are taught during the semester, students will be expected to practise between lessons and produce real language learning resources.

Syllabus
  • We will cover the following topics: 1. Using mobile applications that can facilitate the process of storytelling. 2. Using mobile applications that can facilitate the process of writing. 3. Using mobile applications that can facilitate the process of speaking. 4. Using videos in the classroom. 5. Exploring the possibilities of getting feedback from students through mobile apps. 6. Project-based learning with technology. 7. Teaching vocabulary. 8. Using games to teach English.

Teaching methods
The methods used in teaching are mainly different types of discussion (pair, group, class), creating learning materials with the help of mobile devices, projects. All these expect active home preparation.
Assessment methods
As this is a practical course in which skills are acquired, full attendance is expected. Final grading of the course is based essentially on the quality of teaching resources produced using the tools taught ensuring that they demonstrate sound pedagogical bases. More details will be available during the course.
