Course objectives (in Czech)
Předmět umožňuje praktickou a tvůrčí aplikaci poznatků z gramatiky, syntaxe a lexikologie. Seznamuje se základy anglické stylistiky cestou identifikace základních rysů jednotlivých funkčních stylů a psaných žánrových útvarů. Studenti se snaží při dodržení daných principů vytvářet texty, které odpovídají zamýšlené informační a pragmatické funkci.

  • Syllabus: 1. Úvod. Styl, žánr. Funkční styly v angličtině a češtině. 2. Stylotvorné prvky. Distinktivní rysy. Psaný vs. mluvený projev. 3. Korespondence. Soukromé/neformální a úřední/obchodní/formální dopisy. 4. Úřední jazyk. Oznámení, výzvy, vyhlášky, pokyny, formuláře. 5. Právnický jazyk. Smlouvy, zákony. 6. Jazyk reklamy. Slogany. 7. Jazyk žurnalistiky a publicistiky. Titulky. Útvary v novinách. 8. Jazyk žurnalistiky. Novinové zpravodajství. 9. Jazyk publicistiky. Reportáž. Recenze. Sloupek. 10. Vědecké texty populárně naučné. 11. Vědecké texty odborné. Odborné články, přednášky, monografie. 12. Literární žánry. Próza. 13. Literární žánry. Poezie.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Final test consisting of two parts - - theory (styles and genres, their typical features) - practical task - to write a short text conforming with the distinctive linguistic features of a given style Homework - 3 one-page assignments during the semester Minimum 80 % attendance
