Course objectives
The main aim of the course is to develop real-life communicative skills, raise grammar awareness and develop fluency. The students should improve their existing knowledge of grammar, develop their speaking ability focusing on their own experience and opinions, build a bigger and better active vocabulary with focus on lexis in context and collocations to become fluent communicators. Development of listening and writing skills is also included.
Syllabus
  • The course work is based mainly on the coursebook 'Inside Out Advanced' (namely Units 11 - 13) and additional materials from various other sources. Week 1-4: Unit 11 Stories (telling and writing stories; future seen from the past, compound adjectives). Week 5-8: Unit 12 Words (new words in English, spelling, word games; collocations, whatever, etc.). Week 9-12: Unit 13 Conscience (Donating money to charities, Feeling guilty; collocations, special uses of the past simple).

Requirements: attendance 80% (if possible), active participation, all assigned homework and preparation throughout the whole course, a revision test after each unit, 2 written assignments, final credit - oral in pairs
