Předpoklady
The course Grammar B Practice is designed as a supplementary optional course for all the participants of Grammar B and other students who have passed the compulsory Grammar B course before. The required level of English is B2.

Cíle předmětu
The course aims to provide students with more practice of the grammar issues discussed in Grammar B (compulsory course) and work on them systematically using various types of exercises including cloze tests, transformations, gap fill, text analysis, etc.
At the end of the course SWBAT: understand basic linguistic terminology and give examples in context; explain all the grammar features covered in Grammar B course and give examples of them in context; analyze language use with a focus on grammar; compare particular grammar features, their form and meaning
Students will also be familiar with various grammar books and sources recommended for study of grammar.
Výstupy z učení
Students will be able to: - analyze the use of the grammar points concerned in texts and explain their use (nouns, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions;
- work with texts with a focus on context, e.g. cohesive devices (pronouns, articles, etc.);
- understand how to approach various types of grammar activities from the point of both teacher and learner;
- work with various sources for grammar reference and find particular grammar info in order to give explanations and support them;
- identify the most common mistakes and correct them;
- prepare an activity for their peers to practise a particular grammar point of their own choice (the range of topics is determined by the grammar issues discussed);

  • 1-2. Introduction – analysis of students' needs and preferences, survey on the most frequent problems and grammar issues to work on in detail
  • 3-4. Text analysis - use in context (linguistic vs. situational); Cohesion and cohesive devices (pronouns)
  • 5-6. Nouns in text with focus on the invididual features of the English noun, mainly countability
  • 7-8. Use of articles - analysis in context, practice
  • 9.-10. Adjectives, adverbs, prepositions - practice in context
  • 11-12. Students' contributions and activities prepared for others + grammar project discussion
