Course objectives
Students will
expand their awareness of specific needs the learners with dyslexia have while studying English as a foreign language;
learn how to respect the SpLD learners´specific needs;
practise basic classroom management techniques suitable for classes with SpLD learners;
accommodate SpLD learners in the lessons using different scaffolding techniques;
make themselves familiar with different forms of assessment of SpLD learners.

  • Specific learning difficulties associated with dyslexia
  • Identification of dyslexia
  • The effect of dyslexia on foreign language learning
  • Accommodations of dyslexic learners in the foreign language classroom and overview of teaching techniques
  • Phonological and orthographic awareness in EFL
  • Techniques for teaching vocabulary and grammar
  • Teaching listening and speaking
  • Teaching reading and writing
  • The assessment of dyslexic language learners
