Syllabus
  • Lectures will begin an introduction to the study of history. Major themes in British history will be developed, not always chronologically, such as regional variation, the creation of the union, the English and Scotish reformation, the English Revolution,colonial expansion, social history and so on. Seminars will be a chance for students to discuss issues and develop their skills in critical evaluation of source matterial. While being a survey course that will look at early and medieval societies in the British Isles, the emphasis will be on early modern and contompory history.
