Syllabus

• The aim of the course is to introduce the students to a communicative appproach in the study of English syntax. Main topics: functions of language with regards to their role in the act of communication, speech act theory, communicative sentence types, sentence patterns in communication, grammatical cohesion, register variation, functional sentence perspective.
