Syllabus
  • The theoretical preliminaries of the course are based on a selection of articles by representatives of different trends in linguistics and literary criticism of the 20th sentury - V. Mathesius, J. Mukařovský, I. A. Richards, R. Barthes, T. Todorov, M. Bakhtin, G. Leech, M. Short, D. Birch. The readings prepare the students for the stylistic analysis of literary texts, poetry and prose, with special emphasis on: narrative point of view, speech and thought presentation, dialect presentation, register variation and humorous language. The analysis serves as a base for the translation of the a prose text.
