Course objectives
Drama techniques as a tool for teaching a foreign language. The course will go through basic drama games to topic based games, unfinished materials, storytelling and structuring drama work. From simple activities that can be simply inserted into any EFL classroom up to structured drama that can go on for several sessions or even days. The students will go from experiencing prepared drama structures to creating a simple structure in groups. The groups will present their chosen structure of a topic/book in front of the classroom.

  • 1. warm-ups and ice-breakers, name games 2. topic based games 3. using props, setting a simple scene 4. TIR (teacher in role)technique 5. using stories in the classroom 6. Improvisation 7. Unfinished materials as a tool for storytelling 8. Soundtracking, radio broadcasting 9. Structuring drama work 10. drama lesson planning - the structure of a drama lesson plan 11. working with textbooks - trying to make a drama lesson plan out of a textbook lesson. 12. presentation
