Course objectives
At the end of the course students will be able:
to characterize the position of didactics of Natural History in the system of sciences;
to summarize the crucial moments in the development of Natural History education;
to explain position of Natural History in curriculum documents;
to complete the class book, class report, pupil's catalog folder;
to give examples of Natural History textbooks with a systematic and ecological concept of curriculum;
to compare textbooks with a systematic and ecological concept of curriculum;
by own words to explain the essence of individual didactic principles;
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able:
- to evaluate the position of didactics of natural hisotry in the system of sciences
- to justify the position of natural history in curriculum documents
- to focus on school documentation
- to evaluate the natural history textbooks
- to clarify the essence of individual didactic principles

  • 1) Didactics of Natural History as a science
  • 2) History of Natural History Education
  • 3) National Curriculum Documents: National Education Programme, Framework Education Programmes
  • 4) The position of Natural History in the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education
  • 5) Curriculum documents of the school level: The School Education Programme and the position of the Natural History in it
  • 6) School documentation: class book, class report, pupil's catalog folder
  • 7) Natural History textbooks with a systematic concept of curriculum
  • 8) Natural History textbooks with a ecological concept of curriculum
  • 9) Didactic principles and their application in the teaching of Natural History: the principle of science, the principle of connection of school with life, the principle of educational teaching
  • 10) Didactic principles and their application to the teaching of Natural History: the principle of continuity and succession, the principle of clarity, the principle of the union of theory and practice
  • 11) Didactic principles and their application to the teaching of Natural History: the principle of proportionality, the principle of awareness of acquired knowledge, the principle of permanence
  • 12) Didactic principles and their application to the teaching of Natural History: the principle of individual approach to pupils, the principle of respect for inter-subject relations, the principle of hygiene and the safety of teaching
