Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to practically prove the basic characteristics of the biochemical compounds and methodical advancements for its study and enzyme analytical improvement
practical performance and prove of qualitative and quantitative reactions of carbohydrate, lipids, amino-acids, proteins, nucleic acids and enzymes
to practically and expertly present own laboratory work and results
Syllabus
  • Water analysis in terms of biologically important ions.
  • Extraction of selected ions (anions, cations) of   organic material (material of plant / animal food).
  • Potentiometry (using ion-selective electrodes):
  • Determination of selected anions: nitrate, chloride in surface and ground waters.
  • Determination of concentrations of selected substances in biological material   (Determination of Cl-ions in   meat / meat products Determination of NO3-ions in spinach,   chlorophyll in the leaves of green plants, determination of ascorbic acid in   plant material and food supplements).
  • Determination of selected cations: ammonium, lithium, copper, lead-oleaginous, Ca   in surface and ground waters and the   plant material (fruits, vegetables).
  • Speed ​​catabolic action of microorganisms.
  • Qualitative reactions of carbohydrates.
  • Carbohydrate thin-layer chromatography.
  • Preparation and identification of lipids in egg yolk.
  • Verification and chromatography separation of leaf pigments.
  • Characteristic reactions of amino acids and proteins.
  • Verification of amino acids and peptide.
  • Amino acids paper chromatography.
  • Separation of proteins.
  • Separation and properties of nucleic acids.
  • Enzyme reaction temperature dependency.
  • Verification of proteins.
  • Ezyme substrate specification.
  • Enzyme activity determination.
  • Kinetics of enzyme reaction.
