Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarised as follows:
to introduce into modern methods of chemical analysis and evaluation of chemical data using the newest instrumentation, computer technics and software.
Syllabus
  • 1. Historical overview of instrumental methods.
  • 2. Optical methods - basic terms and classification.
  • 3. Atomic absorption spectrometry.
  • 4. Spectrophotometry.
  • 5. Atomic emission spectrometry, ICP.
  • 6. Photoluminiscence methods.
  • 7. Separation methods - basic terms and classification.
  • 8. Extraction.
  • 9. Liquid chromatography.
  • 10. Gass chromatography.
  • 11. Electrochemical methods - basic terms and classification.
  • 12. Potentiometry, polarography, conductometry.
  • 13. Electrophoresis, isotachophoresis, capillary electrophoresis and isotachophoresis.
  • 14. Mass spectrometry, MALDI-TOF.
  • 15. Tandem methods.
  • 16. Chemometrics, its classification and the place in modern chemistry.
  • 17. Errors and their expression, correctness, accuracy, reproducibility.
  • 18. Calibration dependences, linear regression, detection limit, determination limit.
  • 19. Standard addition method, regulary diagrams of accurance.
  • 20. Simplex method, Monte Carlo Metod and their use.
  • 21. Multicomponent analysis - basic terms.
  • 22. Classical multicomponent analysis.
  • 23. Modern methods of multicomponent analysis, calibration, prediction.
  • 24. Multiple linear regression, Principal component regression, PLS, Kalman filter.
  • 25. The use of multicomponent analysis in chemistry.
  • 26. Neural networks and their use in chemistry.
