Course objectives
At the end of this course the students will fully understand the sound part of human communication that is created according to the speech organs. Student will be also able to get in sound structure of the speech, on the comparison of the spoken and the written texts.Students will show the ability to deal with the orthographic problems, the phonetic transcription, with the principles of the orthography and with the orthoepie, with classification of the vowels and consonants. The students recognise the structure of the syllable, segmentation of the continuous speech and pronunciation of home and loan words. The variants of the phonemes in the continuous speech, sound structure of the Czech, its graphical registration.

Classification of the phones and phonemes in Czech according to the phonetics and phonology. 5. Sound means in of continuous speech.Intonation, stress, melody 6. Literary pronunciation of home and loan words. 7. Sound structure of the Czech and its graphical registration. 8. Spelling czech rules.

Teaching methods
Type of tuition: Seminar credit excercises focusedon the culture of spoken and writen expression and basic of phonetics and phonology Textual analysis: identification of the morphological phenomena in the text. promleme methos controlled discussion. During the semestre, students prepare own spoken excercise. During the tuition, there will be scheduled tests to controll students knowledge. The marks of these tests will be included into final grading. In agreement with the Study regulations of Masaryk University, there will be NO re- corections of these tests allowed. Dates of these control tests will be announced via IS at the beginning of the semestre. Passing of these tests is a requirement for the enrolement for the final exam. According to the Study regulations of Masaryk University, in justified cases it is possible to ask (in written form) for permission to to end the subject in second re-sit. The attendance is compulsory.
Assessment methods
Requirements for passing the exam is management of the topics coverred in the subject syllabus, that will be verified by the exam. Written and oraal exam at the end of the term. The exam consists of two parts: written one and oral one. During the semester the students will write four written tests: orthography (dictation - consisting of 80 orthographical phenomena), knowledge of the system of Czech vowel sounds and consonant sounds, phonetic transcription and classification of the sounds.The students must earn 70%. To succesfully pass the subject, student must write the tests during the term.The marks from all tests will be included into the final mark. According to the Masaryk university Study regulations, there will be no re-corections of these tests written during the term. Dates of these tests will be announced via IS at the beginning of the semester.Fulfiling the requirements is the necessity to be allowed to sit the final exam.According to the Study regulations of Masaryk university it is possible to apply in justified cases, (in written form) to finish the subject in second re- sit. The attendance is compulsory.
