Teaching methods
Students will get an insight into the basic trends of literature for young adults in the respective period, as well as into the specific nature of its poetics. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities, significant for that particular period. Students will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more efficiently. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.
Assessment methods
Active participation in seminars (students can miss two sessions) and a mini-lecture (or a written assignment) are the prerequisites for the students to sit the final examination. Examination topics are announced in the first week of the term in the Information System. To pass the exam students must demonstrate sound knowledge of the historical context (at least at the secondary school level) and literary historical relations to national and world literature. Moreover, students must demonstrate the ability to interpret pieces of literature based on their own reading (see the list of compulsory reading). Completion of the course: oral examination
