Course objectives
The subject is intended as a course of individual students research work in linguistics, especially for the students who elaborate diploma paper in linguistics. The individual work shall be based on the research studies of the linguistic literature and critical thinking of it and critical consultation with some member of the department of Czech language. The first steps shall be aimed to the critical reading of the linguistic literature, principles of choice of scientific information according to the research aim. Than the students will be informed about the research methods of data collection, classification and synthese.
After finishing the course:
- student is able to propound exploration of facts to selected research problem;
- student can explain selected methods of linguistic research;
- student can use information of the linguistic literature to make project of the research.

  • 1. Information about linguistic research. Linguistic literature. 2. Studying of linguistic literature, choice of information. Comparation, critical valuation. 3. Using of the information of secondary literature for theoretic and methodological solution of especiall problems in linguistics.

Assessment methods
Individual tuition with teacher. Student can obtain credit after commiting of written work that can be a part of the diploma thesis of the Czech language. Student shall demonstrate in this work that he knows linguistic research technique and that he is able to use them.
