Course objectives
Subject is aimed for students with a deep interest for linguistics and for students who are working on their diploma thesis in the department of Czech language. The course is based on individual work of students with a chosen tutor. The first consultations are expected to be focused on the theoretical part of the work (linguistic literature), on rules for choosing the relevant information according to the intended linguistic intention, critical evaluation of opinions in a linguistic literature and others. It is followed by an acknowledgement of the methods of collecting data, methods of their division and synthesis. At the end of the course the student shall: - be able to propound exploration of facts to selected research problem; - explain selected methods of linguistic research; - use information of the linguistic literature to make project of the research.

  • 1. Basic information about a linguistic research. Linguistic literature and its study. 2 Choice of information from a linguistic literature. Comparation, critical valuation of opinions of other authors. 3. Using of the information of secondary literature for theoretical and methodological solution.

Assessment methods
Individual tuition with teacher. Student can obtain credit after commiting of written work that can be a part of the diploma thesis of the Czech language. Student shall demonstrate in this work that he knows linguistic research technique and that he is able to use them.
