Course objectives
Particular attention will be paid to the interpretation of selected pieces of prose and poetry for children and young adults. Through analysis and interpretation of selected pieces of literature, students get a thorough understanding of Czech literature for children and youth. When analysing the texts, students notice the basic characteristics of the style of individual periods as well as outstanding personalities. This course follows the obligatory course Literature for young adults.

Teaching methods
Students will get an insight into basic trends and movements of Czech literature for children and young adults of the period in question, as well as into the specific nature of their poetics. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities, significant for that particular period. Students will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more effectively. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.
Assessment methods
Cource completition: credit Credit requirements: students write a review of one contemporary book for young adults.
