Course objectives
The seminar focuses on the interpretation of selected works from Czech poetry and prose published between the years 1890-1918. Throught text analysis students will get a deeper insight into literary trends and movements of Czech literature of the period in question, as well as into the specific nature of their poetics.
Syllabus
  • 1. General introduction to the interpretation of a literary work. 2. Interpretation of selected pieces of poetry. 3. Interpretation of selected pieces of prose.

Teaching methods
Students will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities, significant for the particular period. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.
Assessment methods
Type of course: seminar. Type of completion: credit. Credit requirements: oral presentation and active participation (max. 3 nonattendances).
