Course objectives
The undergraduates learn about the substance of structural forms of the language and the definition of dialects as one of the existing forms of a language. They study the reasons and processes of emergence of dialects, criteria of their classification and the development of dialects at present. Analyses of the relationship to the history of the language, evolutional process, consequences for the language culture, especially for school practice. Study of a concrete dialect in the field.
Syllabus
  • 1 Structural and non-structural language forms; analysis of their mutual relationship. 2 Definition of a dialect, dialectological terminology; reference literature. 3 Reasons why the languages divided into dialects; geographical and social dialects. Problems of disappearance of dialects. Levelling of dialects. The present state. 4 Emergence of dialectic boundaries (isoglosses), their changes. 5 Methodology of dialectological research, transcription of dialectological texts, maps. Dialect monographs and dictionaries. 6 The goals of dialectology; dialectology and teaching Czech. Analyses of mistakes in written works of the pupils with respect to their dialectic background.

Typ výuky: přednáška Předmět je zakončen zápočtem. Předpokladem k získání zápočtu je odevzdání písemné seminární práce, na jejímž obsahu je nutné domluvit se s vyučujícím.
