Course objectives
The student shall obtain a basic competence in the syntax of contemporary Czech language.
The targets of the subject:
(a) establishment of the knowledge of syntactical terminology;
(b) establishment and development of the ability to apply the methodology of the analysis of the sentence, clause and elements of the sentence and of compound or complex sentence;
(c) stablishment of the theoretical knowledge of the structure and semantics of the compound and complex sentences.
(d) establishment of the ability to depict the structure of the compound and complex sentence, to explain the relationship of them and the types of clauses.
Learning outcomes
It is presupposed that students after finishing the course:
1. know the terminology of the syntax and are able to explain the terminology of contemporary theories of syntax dealing with the sentence and enunciation and to explain differences between the analytic ("traditional") syntax of the syntax and valence syntax;
2. have created an algorithm for recognizing of the sentential constituents, they can use it in the sentential analysis and modify it by explaining of sentential constituents in the teaching in basic school or lower secondary school;
3. are able to make complex analysis of the sentence in the term of the analytic or valence syntax;
4. are able to analyse compound sentences and complex sentence, to differ the types of the clauses in compound and complex centences;
5. are able to identify the relationships among the clauses in all types of compound and complex sentences.
Syllabus

- Study hours.
Assessment methods
Structure of the examination
1. part: Written test in the end of the term; the test includes the theme of the course (see syllabus). The test is only practical and includes:
