Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to introduce different variants of didactic understanding of the concept of intercultural communicative competence in foreign language teaching.
Syllabus
  • This course makes part of the optional courses of the didactic section (subsection Topical chapters on didactics of foreign languages); it is offered especially to students whose dissertation is related to this topic. The aim of the subject is to introduce different variants of didactic understanding of the concept of intercultural communicative competence in foreign language teaching. Theoretical starting points: defining the concept of intercultural communicative competence, developments of this concept, contemporary influential models of intercultural communicative competence and its components (i.e. at general level communicative competence and intercultural competence, specifically then foreign language communicative competence). The core of the course is a reflection on models of intercultural communicative competence in categories of goals, content and didactic means in foreign language teaching. Attention will be paid to insufficiently elaborated questions of evaluation of the development of the concept of intercultural communicative competence (in general and in school teaching).
