Course objectives
Having completed the course, a student will be able to explain the role of the State Security in enforcing the policy of the communist party in Czechoslovakia and incorparate the issue into a broader context of contemporary Czechoslovakian history.
Learning outcomes
Having completed the course, a student will be able to: - critically evaluate and interpret various historical sources;
- using examples, describe and explain the methods used by State Security when maintaining the communist regime in Czechoslovakia;
- describe the role of intelligenc services at communist takeover in 1948;
- suggest suitable didactic methods for using this issue in teacheing history at primary and secondary school;

  • - Birth of the State Security in 1945, situation of the security and intelligence apparatus 1945-1947, the role of intelligence services in the coup of 1948
