Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarised as follows:
to get basic habits and drafts by executing of analytical processes in analytical laboratory;
to achieve the best accuracy and correctness of results by practical analysis of samples.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this course the student will gain:  knowledge of acquiring basic habits and skills in conducting experiments in the analytical laboratory and achieving as accurate and accurate as possible the results of practical analyzes of samples  Skills and skills for performing practical experiments in an analytical laboratory  A comprehensive overview of the content of the subject's subject (Group reactions of cations and anions, Selective reaction of cations and anions, Gravimetry, Volumetric analysis, Instrumental analytical methods).
Syllabus
  • Safety of the work in analytical laboratory. Basic laboratory analytical operations, technics and apparatus.
  • 1. Group reactions of ions. A. Group reactions of cations. B. Group reactions of anions.
  • 2. Selective reactions of cationts.
  • 3. Selective reactions of anions.
  • 4. Gravimetry. A. determination of iron as Fe2O3. B. Determination of nickel with diacetyldioximem.
  • 5. Alcalimetry. A. Standardization of 0,1 mol.dm-3 NaOH solution on oxalate acid. B. Determination of H3PO4. C. Determination of acetic acid in vinegar. D. Determination of amonium nitrogen according Hanuš. E. Potentiometric determination of H3PO4.
  • 6. Acidimetry. A. Standardization of 0,1 mol.dm-3 HCl solution on Na2CO3. B. Determination of Na2CO3 in NaOH according Winkler.
  • 7. Chelatometry. A. Standardization of 0,05 mol.dm-3 chelatone solution. B. Determination of Ca2+ and Mg2+in a mixture. C. Determination of Mg by the titration on eriochrome black T as indicator. D. Determination of Cu2+.
  • 8. Argentometry. A. Standardization of 0,05 mol.dm-3 AgNO3 solution according Mohr or Fajans. B. Determination of Cl- with visual indication of equivalence point. C. Determination of halogenides with potentiometric indication.
  • 9. Permanganate titration and Iodometric titration. A. Standardization of 0,02 mol.dm-3 KMnO4 solution on oxalate acid. B. Determination of Fe2+. C. Standardization of 0,1 mol.dm-3 solution Na2S2O3 on K2Cr2O7. D. Standardization of 0,05 mol.dm-3 solution iodine on Na2S2O3. E. Iodometric determination of ascorbic acid.
  • 10. Spectrophotometry. A. Determination of iron with 1,10-fenanthroline. B. Determination of iron with sulphosalicyle acid. C. Determination of Cd2+ with 4-(2-pyridylazo)-resorcine. D. Determination of NO3- after reduction on NO2- with sulphanile acid and N-(1-naftyl)-ethylendiamine dihydrochloride. E. Determination of β-carotene.
  • 11. Chromatography on thin layer – separation of mixtures of vegetable dyes.
  • 12. Evaluation of results of laboratory exercises – computer programs.
