Course objectives
The goal of the subject is improving the argumentation via more-complex text studies. The discussed issues, including some final work proposals, require thorough knowledge as they evoke rather abstract concepts. The essays of the students are trained according a French model and are focused towards general (philosophical) tractates.

Le siècle de la peur, Albert Camus in Combat, 1948. 5. Le tourisme est-il néfaste ? (cf R-P. Droit in Le Monde, 30.05.1997). 6. De quelle liberté l’art témoigne-t-il? 7. Les échanges culturels : enrichissement ou perte? 8. Les rôles de l’image et de l’écrit dans la presse (cf Luc Ferry in la sagesse des modernes, 1998). 9. L’égalité d’instruction (cf Condorcet in Progrès de l'esprit humain, 1793).
