The course develops awareness of the democratic approach to language and shows how corpus tools can be used effectively in professional language teaching.
Learning outcomes
The person who has completed this course:
- can locate and access relevant language portals and have access to them
- can describe the advantages of corpus tools compared to web search (common search engines) and AI
- knows the basics of using the InterCorp multilingual corpus
- can search effectively using CQL
- can interpret query results
- can explain the difference between search results in a regular dictionary, in treq and in a parallel corpus
- can develop short inductive and deductive exercises for a class.
